In this paper I investigate how the COVID-19 pandemic catalyzed structural shifts in Hollywood’s labor practices and compensation models. Using critical discourse analysis and a political economy framework, I explore Scarlett Johansson’s lawsuit against Disney as a case study that highlights shifting power dynamics in the entertainment industry and signals broader changes in contract negotiation and worker agency.

This literature review explores the evolving field of broadband internet scholarship, tracing its thematic development across infrastructure, economics, and sociology. Drawing on a wide range of sources, I examine how access to broadband has become a defining issue in the digital era, with implications for equity, labor, and public policy.

As part of my graduate studies, I completed a course on digital humanities methodologies, which culminated in a collaborative research project exploring local communities through digital tools. My group investigated cost of living changes in Crozet, Virginia, using GIS mapping and census data. I contributed by designing the project’s host site and conducting census-based research to support our analysis

On behalf of the Board Chair of the Turn the Mill Around Campaign, I drafted this letter to the Virginia Department of Historic Resources outlining the Campaign’s concerns regarding VDOT’s proposed replacement of the Broad Run bridge superstructure. In it, I emphasized the potential risks such a project poses to the structural stability of the Chapman-Beverley Mill and the integrity of its historic setting.

After the Virginia Department of Transportation announced a large-scale infrastructure project that threatened the stability of Chapman-Beverley Mill, I wrote a public appeal published in local newspapers. In the piece, I highlighted the Mill’s historical significance, outlined the potential risks posed by the proposed project, and urged readers to contact their local representatives in defense of the site’s preservation.
